Why Was Angel Locsin’s Michael Cinco Gown A Miss?

StyleCaster.com, one of the most credible fashion blogs online, called Angel Locsin’s Michael Cinco white Swarovski gown a MISS among the people who walked down the red carpet at the International Emmy’s.

StyleCaster.com said :

There’s something about Angel Locsin‘s gown that is dangerously reminiscent of Bjork’s swan-inspired (no wait, literal swan) dress from 2001. And when we say dangerous, we don’t mean dangerously sexy. (SOURCE)

What StyleCaster doesn’t know is that the gown that Angel wore was actually an homage to Angel’s role in the show “Lobo” which was a wolf. This is my guess of course.

Another thing, StyleCaster also doesn’t know that Philippines Showbiz took this nomination for Angel as a big deal. In all honesty, International Emmy’s is not that important in the US. While there may be a few recognized names who showed up during the award ceremony, it’s really not that prominent, no matter how many people are involved in it. Even Daytime Emmy’s is almost frowned upon in Hollywood. I mean the last telecast didn’t have a home for air time for months until CW network took it and when it finally aired, it was rushed and dubbed as the worst Daytime Emmy Awards. As for the International Emmy Awards, it’s pretty much unheard of. There is no telecast for it. The dress code is pretty much a cocktail dress. Angel Locsin and Carmen Soo are understandably proud that they’re recognized Internationally  so they took this seriously and went all out. Angel Locsin’s gown has been reported to cost almost 1M Pesos. So not only did Angel and Carmen looked way too overdressed, Angel’s gown certainly made her look like she was joining a beauty pageant.

Look, I’m not trying to diss Angel here. I understand why she decided to go all out. We congratulated her on her nominations and I genuinely think she looked nice in this gown. However, for International Emmy’s which is not that popular, the gown was too much. If it was the Oscar’s or the Golden Globes, I think the extravagance of her gown would have been more apropos. If Angel wore one of her black dresses with her Topshop booties instead, I would bet that StyleCaster would have put her in their HIT list.
