Marian Rivera, A Cheapskate? You Jest!

The showbiz news written by Joey Sarmiento on Remate calling Marian Rivera a cheapskate is one of those “ROTFLMAO” shitty rags not worth a lick to shine anyone’s boots. But here I am responding to it coz well, I’ve got nothing better to do than make someone put his foot in his mouth. Joey Sarmiento is claiming that the ratings of Tweets For My Sweet didn’t meet the expectations of GMA 7. He’s also apparently sympathizing with the production staff of Tweets For My Sweet because they were hoping to get monetary gift or whatever from Marian but they didn’t get anything.

TRADITIONALLY, the last taping day of a supposed gigantic TV series should be lavish or extravagant and gift-giving truly abounds especially if it’s coming from the star of the show. But according to the report of my intel, ironically, hindi ito nangyari sa last taping day ng Tweets for my Sweet ni Marian Rivera.

Our intel heralded that the said teleserye didn’t reach the expectation of GMA7 executives in terms of ratings and ad placements kaya medyo malungkot daw ang last taping day nila sa Coffee Belle in West Avenue, Kyusi.

We sympathize with the production assistants who were hoping to get something from Marian, either in the form of cash or in kind, na most of the time ay nagaganap sa mga last taping days but sad to say, ‘yung pagiging compassionate ni Marian sa mga nasalanta ng baha of late seems to be as phony as the three dollar bill because hindi niya ito nagawa sa mga production staff ng kanyang teleserye na kanyang nakatrabaho in one full season.

Everybody in the biz knows that Marian, being the princess of GMA7 as they say, is earning a lot of moolah from her showbiz rakets and doling out a small amount of cash as token for the staff will not cost her an arm and a leg and in fact, is a good gesture for a star like her pero hindi raw niya ginawa.

Perhaps, it is true that she is a cheapskate. In short, kuripot! (source)

Out of all those episodes, only 2 were low. One was when Mang Dolphy died, and when the timeslot was moved. In all fairness they were still high considering. If GMA 7 is not happy about those numbers then my golly their expectations for a weekend sitcom must be super duper high unreachable. Let’s see them have a sitcom. They might want to take their expectations down a notch, heh.

For some who’s got their own twists of why Tweets For My Sweet is bidding adieu, here are some thoughts to ponder on. Could it be that the reason Marian’s sitcom is not renewing is because she’s in preparation for her upcoming teleserye which is supposedly slated for the last quarter? Could it be that the sitcom has an original plan of only 16 weeks with the option to renew? Could it be that Marian decided not to renew coz along with her upcoming teleserye, she gosh darn enrolled herself at the The Center For Asian Culinary Studies? And then there’s still the movie with Coco Martin which hopefully she’ll start shooting SOON, like yesterday, (Hellooo Coco). And then she also has a life outside showbiz. Then at one point or another, she’ll need to sleep, right????

As for the production staff hoping for gifts from Marian, Really? I’m not going to take Joey Sarmiento’s word for it coz that would belittle the production staff. What the hell do you think they are hoping for cash or in kind after a show? Yes, gifts are nice but gifts are not something you expect or demand, they’re given. Besides, I doubt the staff are that low to expect anything in return because they were there to do their jobs and I’m pretty sure they were paid for the jobs they’ve done by their employer, GMA 7. Anong akala mo sa kanila, patay gutom?

Then Sarmiento rationalizes that because the production staff supposedly didn’t get any gifts therefore Marian’s compassion to the people affected by the flood and heavy rain lately is worth nothing? WOW AND I MEAN, WOW! Talk about jumping from A to Z, in a snap.

FYI again, ever since Tweets For My Sweet started, her co-stars receive gifts practically every taping day. Ask Barbie Forteza and all her Hello Kitty goodies. Ask Sheena Halili who gets chocolates, and all that goodies she got when Marian and Dingdong came back from Spain. Geez, do I need to mention the fact that Marian extended her help in paying for Sheena’s condo if ever she needs it?

Marian, a cheapskate? Really, let’s ask Dingdong Dantes how much his girlfriend spoils him with expensive watches, and for the love of God, a DUCATI. Yes, Joey Sarmiento, a D-U-C-A-T-I that’s worth half a million pesos (but don’t quote me on that). How about the entire family dinner she paid for at their recent trip in HK to celebrate Dingdong’s birthday?

Let’s ask Buboy Villar who paid his hospital bills when he got hurt at the Darna set? GMA 7 insisted they pay Marian back for it because it’s the rule they just can’t break. Let’s ask Buboy as well who paid the hospital when he and his brother got Dengue?

How about the 80+ Godchildren that Marian has? And the annual gift giving that she and her grandmother organizes for their neighbors in Cavite?

Oh get this, Marian’s Christmas party last year was by far the biggest Christmas party hosted by a celebrity for the press. So big that the people who weren’t invited by Lolit Solis got so pissed off that they’ve lost all their screws in their heads they’ve shamelessly demanded their shares at the Panday 2 pocket conference.

OK for the sake of argument let say Marian is a cheapskate or Kuripot, what the hell is wrong with what? In this kind of life when we all don’t know how the economy is going? In an industry where you can’t always be on top therefore you better be financially ready for your future? In these times with all the calamities going on that you want to help out as many people as you can. Just to be clear, I don’t believe for a second that the production staff were hoping for any kind of gifts from Marian as Joey Sarmiento has claimed. I’m pretty sure they would rather have Marian donate as much as she can to the Red Cross or whatever advocacy she’s supporting to help out for the relief and rescue.

Jeebuzz, are people that desperate to pick on Marian Rivera these days that they would just create something as asinine as being a “cheapskate?” Dyusmio Marimar!
