Official DongYanatics celebrated its 4th year anniversary on February 18, 2012. In lieu of organizing a party, some of the members decided to donate money to help YesPinoy Foundation‘s Children of the Storm program. The turnover for the donation finally happened on May 29th, hours after the DongYan live chat.

It took a while to have this turnover because of a few important factors which caused the delay. The core members from the Philippines gave the members based in the US ample time to send in their donations, then after that, we had to consider schedules of Dingdong and Marian, and the members. Yah know, work, family, and vacations. On May 29th the schedules have finally compromised. Marian couldn’t be at the turnover though coz she still had to tape her sitcom. They had to do it without her at that time or wait until after she are Dingdong are back from their vacation this month. The former won.

sa wakas… after 48 years, natuloy na rin itong turnover na ito…

it got delayed for such a loooong time kasi we were still giving chance to get more donations from the US…
tapos nagpatong-patong na ang mga busy skeds, so super sorry po talaga sa delay…

anyway…so eto na nga….

nakapag-set na kami ng appointment with kuya perry to meet dong at his YPF office in makati from 4-4:30pm.

i was there by 3pm (takot ma-late !)

na-welcome naman kami agad nina trina & her husband, JP, plus ang mga staff ng ypf…
(reunion with kuya Uro & Joe…)

sama-sama kaming nag-score-an sa verdict sa impeachment trial while waiting for dong

while waiting, ginawa ko na rin muna yung list ng donors na babasahin ni dong sa video….
which ultimately became the fan-signs…

soooo…

nung (finally) dumating na si dong…
waaaaaahhhhhh……
akalain nyong natameme pa rin ako!
long time no see kasi eh…

nagpunta muna si dd sa inner office nya,
so wait muna kami sa reception area pa rin…

after a few minutes,
tinawag na kami ni trina to the conference room…

finally…naka-beso & hug na (ulit) ako…
tapos i gave my pasalubong para sa kanila ni Yan …
and did my usual practice of giving him their emergency meds for their trip

sabi nya: wow ! salamat ulit dito, doc…
alam nyo si doc,
parating ganyan yan pag may byahe kami ni yan,
may supply kami ng mga gamot sa byahe,
kaya sure kami na di kami mamamatay ni Yan ! “
(waaaaaaahhhh… speeeeechless….)

sagot ko: ayyy ! bakit naman mamamatay agad ?!! ayoko nyan !

tapos, napansin na namin na…

aba ! may nakahandang pizza at coke…
walang sinabi ang dala namin Goldilocks na pastries…
(natawa si trina nung sinabi ko na “trained” kami na ang ibibigay na pagkain kay dong eh dapat mga endorsements nya para di mahuli ng sponsors sa kodakan! )

eto na…. ayan na si dong…

DD: tara… kain muna tayo!
imbis na kami ang magpakain,

sya pa ang nag pa prepare ng merienda…

tapos, to top it all..

sya pa ang nag-serve…
nag-distribute ng plates, forks, glasses…
nag-bukas ng coke…
nag-pour ng coke sa mga baso!
wow ! super gracious host !!!
waaaaahhh…

kulang na lang, sya pa maglagay ng pizza sa plates

(haaay…. di kami makakilos sa super hiiiiyyyyaaaaa !!!)
ang hirap sumubo, ngumuya at uminom sa harap nya, sa totoo lang ! hahahaha…..

so ayun…
habang trying hard kaming kumain,
nag-start na akong magkwento kay dong about this project…

i reminded him kung paano natin nabuo ito,
by sacrificing our 4th yr anniversary party
in favor of donating to the YPF…

tapos sabi ni dong,

sooobrang timely daw ang donation,
kasi ang dami nilang projects na naka-lineup…

so after nya kumain,
tinawag nya si Joe to explain where our donations will go…

kinwento muna ni dong kay joe yung background for the fundraising,
proud pa sya na imbis daw nagpa party ang mga DYs,
we decided to donate to YPF…

sabi nya, kasing-tagal na daw natin sila ni Yan…
____ years na daw !
waaaahh….. sabi ko… wehhh?!!!!

tapos, in-explain ni joe that the amount we raised,
will be able to help 760 children of the storm…

then dong said that maybe next month,
ite-turnover na nila ang 1 school sa sorsogon or surigao yata
(one of the schools featured sa documentary na ginawa nyang, “Report Card”… )

so they said,
na we have an option daw…
kung para talaga sa CHildren of the Storm natin gusto ibigay ang funds,
maghihintay pa daw sila ng next na storm…

we decided on behalf of the group,
to leave it to the discretion of the YPF
kung saan nila best nakikitang ilagay ang funds…
ginamit lang natin ang mechanism ng Children of the Storm na pwedeng mag-donate kahit P100 lang…

FYI, I am not writing about this to be boastful of the charity work that Official DongYanatics have done and will do in the feature. This is merely an encouragement for other fan groups out there to go beyond just “idolizing” or supporting the body of work of their favorite celebrities. Other fan groups related to Marian and Dingdong have done their own advocacy as well. MarianKnights does a lot of charity ventures every year. Marian even joined DYnamics during her post-birthday celebration for Tahan Tahanan. Don’t forget the very successful Red Cross PH volunteer Run last December. DongYanatics.org has donated to YPF a considerable amount of money when it first launched too. These are the other things that fans do to support Dingdong and Marian. Here’s to hoping it will inspire other fans to do the same coz every little bit really counts.
